Michele Beaton BSc Hons, PGCE (DipTchg) Dip Ed
Before coming to New Zealand in 1993, Michele taught in England and Cyprus where she became Head of Science. Whilst in Cyprus, the opportunity to guide UK based adults and show them the mountains, plants and ecology of Cyprus created a desire to share her love of the outdoors in general and the natural environment in particular with others.
On arriving in New Zealand she enrolled in the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic and completed a Certificate in Nature Tourism. There her passion for New Zealand’s unique environment emerged. The next six years was spent teaching biology and science in Tauranga. In 2000 she left teaching and in 2001 started what was to become Learning Journeys.
